Flaky scalp
|
How it is caused: Essentially, this is a malfunction of the keratinization process of the scalp-a speeding up of the process. The cells can't shed from the scalp in small invisible particles but rather in larger clusters we call dandruff. Some causes are genetics, harsh chemical treatments, aggressive shampoos, extreme climate conditions, dry scalp (the dandruff is dust-like) and oily scalp (the dandruff flakes are larger with an oily feel),
How it is treated: The first step is always cleansing with a targeted shampoo. A tailor-made calming toner applied daily helps to normalize the hectic keratinization rhythm. If a targeted shampoo and toner don't quite do the trick, have your ÆSTELANCE Specialist give you some intensive in-salon scalp treatments which you can then complement with your home care.

- Tip
- Attack this problem at once since continuous dandruff can weaken the growth of the hair. Avoid scalp irritants: hot air and harsh products.
- CLEANSE
- For simple flakes, FI shampoo, helps to free the scalp from flakes and stabilizes the scalp surface. If the scalp is more dehydrated use MC shampoo and if it's lacking oil, use D shampoo (for coarser hair) or DF shampoo (for finer hair).
- TONE
- After every shampoo, and if necessary on days you don't shampoo, use Balance scalp lotion. For a tailor-made lotion, consult with an ÆSTELANCE Specialist to add Aromazones suited to your scalp condition.
- MOISTURIZE
- Mud mask applied to scalp and hair after a shampoo is highly effective for dandruff on dehydrated and oily scalps. Use Oil complex for scalps which are extremely lacking in lipids
- DESIGN
- Consult with your ÆSTELANCE specialist to determine the products for the particular style you are looking to achieve. Just remember to apply them only to the hair.
